Larry Marx
Larry Marx is Executive Director of The Children’s Agenda, an advocacy organization for children and youth in Rochester, New York. Larry has been an organizer and leader of political campaigns and social change organizations for the past 30 years, working in dozens of issue and election campaigns in Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota. He has been fortunate in helping the politically impossible become politically inevitable several times in his life, from a mining moratorium in Wisconsin to the election of Harold Washington as mayor of Chicago. Larry served as Executive Director of Citizen Action of Wisconsin, the largest, multi-issue social change group in the state for eleven years. As Executive Director of the Donor Collaborative of Wisconsin, Larry built and coordinated a network of 25 individual major donors in the state that gave $2.3 million over two years to progressive advocacy organizations. Larry was Program Officer with the Proteus Fund, a national foundation, for two years. In that capacity, he led the national Democracy Agenda research project, publishing a report on pro-democracy reforms for national funders, convening a Wingspread conference for 32 foundations in September, 2007, and serving as consulting-editor and opening author of the January/February, 2009 special issue of The American Prospect magazine. In addition to the Gandhi Institute, Larry also currently serves as a Board member for the USAction Education Fund.
