Originally from a small town in Central Oregon, Jamie moved to New York in 2013 to attend the University of Rochester. After graduating with a B.A.in anthropology and English communications, she joined Rochester Youth Year, an AmeriCorps VISTA program that will allow her to continue learning from the Rochester community and prepare for a future career in community development. Jamie has a strong interest in food justice, urban design, and arts education, but is excited to learn more about restorative justice and the other work the Gandhi Institute does surrounding nonviolence. During her year of service, Jamie will be helping to expand the Gandhi Institute’s School Climate Transformation Program and nonviolence education through resource development and community engagement.
