Volunteer

“The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
M.K. Gandhi

The M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence offers a variety of volunteer opportunities to engage students and other members of our community. If you choose to spend your valuable time with us, you can expect to become familiar with the life and teaching of Mohandas K. Gandhi, network with local nonprofits, learn how to facilitate workshops and develop skills in conflict transformation, and make new friends!

These are just a few of our ongoing projects that can use volunteer support:

  • Alternative spring break planning and participation
  • Grant research and writing
  • Answering phone calls and performing other clerical tasks
  • Mentoring youth at Wilson Foundation Academy
  • Working on the University of Rochester Microfarm
  • Attending the annual Eastman Day of Service
  • Designing and distributing Gandhi Institute materials
  • Helping to facilitate monthly Introduction to Nonviolence workshops
