Smriti Jacob’s desire to address issues that affect the Rochester area and communities across the United States led her to join the board of the M.K. Gandhi Institute of Nonviolence in 2016.
Smriti is senior manager of marketing and communications at iCardiac Technologies Inc., headquartered in Rochester.
She grew up in India, earning bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemistry and biochemistry at University of Pune. A research chemist for a pharmaceutical company, Smriti turned to her love for writing and switched careers to become a business journalist. She later traveled to the United States to earn a master’s degree in journalism from The Ohio State University.
Smriti combined her writing skills and science background to launch a successful career as an award-winning reporter and editor at the Rochester Business Journal for nearly 16 years. She has since parlayed this into her current role leading marketing for iCardiac, a Rochester Top 100 company.
Smriti is passionate about raising awareness of racial equity and issues facing women and underserved populations. She and her husband, Kevin Bouvy, are proud parents of their 3-year-old daughter, Ruhi.
