Since 2010, the Gandhi Institute has promoted the use of restorative practices as a structural form of nonviolence through public advocacy and by staffing restorative spaces in several K-8 and 7-12 schools in the Rochester City School District. In spring 2016 a revised code of conduct in the local school district was passed that included the use of Restorative Practices.
Join this webinar to learn some of the strategies that Gandhi staff employ in their work in schools, which includes connecting Restorative Practices with the racial and cultural backgrounds of students, parents, and staff; near peer education; letting young people lead; and through careful, strategic training and support for Gandhi staff. Join Youth Program Manager David Sanchez and Director Kit Miller for this hour of inspiration and education.
